Overview
Zane is an AI assistant app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Data We Collect
- Queries — The questions and prompts you send to Zane are processed on our server and forwarded to third-party AI services (Google Gemini, Perplexity, and others) to generate responses.
- Photos — If you attach a photo to a query, it is sent to our server and to AI services for analysis. Photos are not stored permanently.
- Location — If you grant location access, your approximate coordinates may be sent with queries to provide location-relevant answers (e.g., nearby places). Location is not stored permanently.
- Device Data — We store a unique user identifier to associate your character, items, and app data with your account.
- Push Notifications — If you enable push notifications, your device token is stored to deliver notifications.
How We Use Your Data
- To process your queries and generate AI responses
- To maintain your character, inventory, and app state
- To enable shared features (Zaps, Hangouts) with other users
- To send push notifications you've opted into
Third-Party Services
Your queries are processed by third-party AI and search providers including Google (Gemini), Perplexity, Brave Search, and xAI (Grok). These services have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.
Data Storage
Your app data (character, items, Zaps) is stored on our servers. Recent stories/decks are stored locally on your device. We do not store query content or photos longer than needed to generate a response.
